Founder & Creative Director

"I believe in flowers. I believe in the stories they tell and the universal language they speak. They ignite happiness, express remorse, and beautify a space, all without saying a word. Flowers are a unifier, an anchor, and ultimately an experience.

Hafsa Lewis lives year-round on the island of Nantucket, where she first began spending time in 2005 before eventually “washing ashore” full-time in 2018.

Her relationship with flowers began during a difficult period in her life, when she experienced firsthand how profoundly therapeutic they could be. What started as something personal eventually became Hafsa & Co., the floral design studio she founded in 2018, and later grew into a much broader curiosity about why flowers affect us the way they do.

Today, Hafsa’s work sits at the intersection of flowers and psychology. She is a doctoral candidate in Health Psychology, where her academic work explores the relationship between our environments and well-being, while her creative work examines flowers through floral design, photography, writing, and workshops.

Through Hafsa & Co., she has created floral work for businesses both on and off Nantucket, and for internationally recognized brands, including Dolce & Gabbana, Saks Fifth Avenue, Truly, Veronica Beard, and Gray Malin. Her work has been featured in Veranda Magazine, Yankee Magazine, and Chronicle.

Hafsa writes a biweekly column for Nantucket’s oldest newspaper, The Inquirer and Mirror, called “The Power of Flowers,” where she explores the many ways flowers intersect with our lives, emotions, and sense of well-being.

When she isn’t working with flowers, writing, or buried in doctoral research, Hafsa is usually somewhere with her husband, near the water, behind a camera, or planning where in the world she wants to go next.

Hafsa works with brands when the project calls for more than flowers.

Bringing together creative direction, photography, writing, styling, and floral design, Hafsa develops campaigns, content, and experiences that feel specific to the brand rather than pulled from a formula. Sometimes that means building an event around a new launch, sometimes creating the imagery and story around a product, and sometimes taking an initial idea and figuring out what it could become.

Her ability to move between disciplines means the idea can lead, with flowers added when they make sense.

forthcoming BOOK:
FLOWER THERAPy

In Flower Therapy, Hafsa explores how we experience flowers through the five senses and how the brain and body process those sensory experiences, influencing emotion, memory, connection, and our overall well-being.
